is an acoustic covers duo that is the brainchild of life musicians Peter Hayes & Ben Brennan. These two creative criminals are no strangers to the Australian and International music scene having both played together on and off since they started jamming over 20 years ago.
Their musical journey has been rooted in original rock, funk, hip hop, blues and electronic music, both having toured Australia and the world extensively together and separately in a range of successful professional projects over the years including Seven, Couch Funk, Full Scale Revolution & The Ox and The Fury. Currently, Pete is enjoying international success with his electronic solo project Tetrameth with gigs all over the world including Brazil, Japan and Israel, whilst Ben is playing bass for well-known pioneer Australian Funk/Live Hip Hop act Resin Dogs.
The duo formed their first musical bond in 1995 with an original rock band called “Seven” that was based in Byron Bay before moving to Melbourne in 2002 to continue their musical journey. Seven supported many international touring acts, whilst successfully touring Australia and Europe off their following.
After moving on to other projects in Melbourne, they have both recently relocated back to the North Coast once again (with young families in tow) to continue what they started long ago.
Now they bring their combined 50+ years of professional musical experience to a new
covers duo, “Friendly Enemies”- an organic concoction of guitar, bass and two part vocal harmonies that cleverly incorporate drum loops, loop pedals, and beatbox percussion to deliver an eclectic repertoire of classic & current songs that recreate an array of era’s & various styles in an acoustic blues/roots/rock format.
Although the duo is unique in its selection and arrangement of songs (see attached ‘Song List’), all tunes are easily recognisable and guaranteed to provide the right energy and entertainment to suit any collective in any environment.
“Friendly Enemies” is the perfect act to provide well known background music to those wanting to relax with a meal or a drink, whilst also having the ability to ramp it up into a sing along performance to keep patrons moving, singing (and drinking of course!) and having a good time.
